Welcome!
Hawes Side is a large Primary School in the South of Blackpool. Originally built in the 1930s, it has been extended and modernised significantly so that it now accommodates 530 children in 19 classes, taught by 23 teachers. In addition, there are two halls, a good-sized library and a fully equipped ICT Suite.
Although appearing small from Pedders Lane, the premises open up to reveal a school of significant size with standing in the local community to match. The extensive grounds, which are mainly at the rear of the school, include three playgrounds, an adventure trail and a very large playing field.
The teaching staff is talented and experienced. They always put the needs of the children, whether they be educational, personal or social, as their first and most important priority. We believe that education extends beyond the academic to the development of the whole child into a capable and confident individual, ready and able to take a place in society.
Our core aim is to provide children with the skills, knowledge, attitudes and confidence which are necessary to enable them to make informed choices for themselves. Our creative approach to the curriculum is designed to promote passion, curiosity and a love of learning in the children.
Academic standards are increasingly high. Attainments in English and Mathematics are particularly pleasing.
We have 2 ‘out of school’ childcare clubs to provide childcare for children of working parents. The Breakfast Club runs from 08.00 a.m. to 08.50 a.m. and the After School Club from 3.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. We also run a holiday club in the school holidays.
